BLESSINGS!

What a blessing it is to witness the little ones sharing the love of Jesus with others!  Last week we enjoyed a snowball fight with the Grandma's at Montclair!  Look closely at the video and you'll see the little ones giving the snowballs to the Grandma's to throw back.  That's what we practiced as we talked about how we could include the Grandma's since they couldn't reach down to get the snowballs off the floor (problem solving skills!).  As I watch this video over and over, my heart just swells at the things being taught here.  Life is so much more than 1,2,3's and A,B,C's....THIS is what life is about and what I want to teach your little one even more than I want to teach them to read and grow academically - sharing the love of Jesus with others, putting others before yourselves, helping those less fortunate than you, visiting the sick and lonely, getting along with others different than yourself, giving your time to others, loving others as Jesus loves us, patience with others,  kindness and so much more.  It is my hope that your child will remember these visits to Montclair for a long time and that the moments and memories of helping others and sharing Jesus with others makes a lasting impact on their lives!
What a blessing it is to teach in a Lutheran school.  What a blessing it is to attend a Lutheran school!  This week we will celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week!  Information for each day has been emailed home to you and sent home in paper copy.  The office will also send out daily reminders.  It's going to be a fun week!!  We will learn about mission work in Madagascar (are you filling up the mite box sent home last week?!), sing our NLSW song with Lutheran schools around the world (on Facebook Live on Thursday), play BINGO, "Minute to Win It" games and go bowling in chapel families, enjoy the Pancake Man on Monday and have fun ways to dress-up each day!!  It's going to be a great week!!

Happy New Year!

Welcome back!  As I sit here at school at 6:45 AM and anticipate all the smiling yet tired faces I will be seeing in a short time, I'm so thankful for this small yet mighty group of little ones God has given to me this school year!  I know that I will be greeted with faces that are happy to see me and their friends even if they aren't ready for the early mornings again.  This week, we will review the Christmas story and then also learn about Simeon and Anna greeting baby Jesus at the temple.  We will celebrate Epiphany on Epiphany (January 6th)!  Today we will review our story and Letterbook U and the rest of the week, we will be learning about the letter b.  We will be doing a lot of writing and blending for the rest of the school year.  Sight word work will be coming home in a week or two as we transition to also learning more sight words.  In Math, we will practice our teen numbers more and work with measuring.

We will visit Montclair on Thursday of this week.  We will be leaving there after lunch for the remainder of the school year.

As your child has told you I'm sure, we are starting our year without 3 of our friends from last semester.  We will miss them but I'm excited to have such a small group and spend time differentiating even more.

Have a wonderful week in Jesus!  Thank you for sharing your children with me!
