So Much Learning Going On!!

We are sure happy for spring-like weather!  On Monday, we went out and observed trees on our property - discussing their similarities and differences.  We talked about their roots and how important it is for trees to have their roots go deep into the ground so when the strong winds blow they don't get blown over.  I then led the children into a discussion about how we are like trees and our roots need to be grounded well in Jesus so that when "the winds" (troubles, sickness) blow/come over us, we won't get "blown over."  It was quite an in-depth conversation and I absolutely love these precious times with my students as we learn more about Jesus, our Savior and about what walking with Him looks like!  They have a marvelous understanding of Jesus' love for them even at 5/6 years-old!!  We will keep learning more and praising Him more each day of school that we have left!

I will be sending home a calendar of remaining events for this school year.  There are still a lot of fun things yet to come!

We are enjoying reading and learning about pioneer life by using "Little House on the Prairie."  These incredible books help the children learn so much about life back in the 1800's and even life today as we relate similarities and differences between then and now.  Our covered wagon, Lucky (our horse) and the log cabin complete with outfits is another great learning tool that the kiddos sure enjoy!!

We are learning about subtraction and continually reviewing our previously learned math concepts.  Story problems are a fun way to practice addition and subtraction!

Enjoy this wonderful spring weather!!  God is good to us - all the time!!

Spring?!

We are still wondering where spring is!  We've enjoyed the warm weather the last few days and even the kiddos aren't sure they want snow this weekend!  But it has assisted us as we learn about the weather!

We have had a wonderful time talking about the true joy of Easter and the resurrection from the dead of our Savior, Jesus.  We are so blessed to have faith in Him and we sure enjoy sharing His love with other each day.

I am continually amazed at the reading ability of these little ones!  They did so wonderful reading the skit this week and we are excited to share it with some of you today and some of you on Tuesday morning.  "Problem," "difficult," "cricket," "present," "dragon," "pocket," "Daffodil," "contest" - some pretty big words to sound out but they can do it!!  Ball Words and Speed Readers are also going so well!!  I'm challenging them with some math things beyond our series and they are rising to the challenge.  They are more than ready for first grade academically!

Jerry and I are very grateful for all of your prayers, kind words, gift cards, meals and special notes at this time.  He is healing but taking time to just rest is hard for him.  The doctor says there is no cancer in his lymph nodes and we praise God for that news!  Thank you for reaching out to us!

I will be gone next Thursday and Friday (April 19 and 20) to NETA (Nebraska Educators Technology conference).  Mrs. Ersland will sub for me and Mrs. Jones will still be here.

Have a great weekend!  Enjoy the pictures!
